Bats are small, winged night creatures, that feed off of plants and other small animals. They are usually black or dark brown, with wings about 2-3′ wide.
They are commonly seen as evil creatures, or messengers of evil sorcerers. This can be the case, but they are mostly just harmless vermin.
They will generally avoid combat and simply fly away. If pressed, a bat will swoop down and bite for 1 pt or damage, then fly away.
The wings of a bat are worth 3 silver pieces to some witches and alchemists. Whole, living bats are prized by some evil sorcerers as sources of energy, and can fetch up to 10 silver pieces each.
Bats live in caves and trees, sleeping during the day and coming out at night. They can also be found in underground catacombs or other urban cave-like areas.
