The black bear is a common large mammal that inhabits forests and swampy areas. They are generally harmless, and just want to be left alone.

Black bears are omnivorous, eating small animals, grubs or plants. They commonly have black, blond or cinnamon colored fur that covers their entire body, with large teeth and claws. They are usually 4-5′ long.

Black bears live in temperate forests, roaming the ground for food and tending their young. They commonly dwell in small caves, hibernating during the winter.

Black bears attack by charging their prey, then biting with their powerful teeth for 1d6+1 damage. They then rip with their strong claws for an additional 1d6+1.

The fur of a black bear is very warm, and is worth 30-40 silver pieces.

The Isle of Ealdun

Black bears are found throughout the Isle. The are less common in the southern plains of Southmoor, but are still found in the hills and marshy areas.

The Middle Lands

Black bears are commonly found in the great northern forests of Tianshang, and the forests of Urre and northern Kavast. They are not found in the southern plains or deserts of Kavast.

The Vales

Black bears are common throughout the Vales.

The Shaman’s Valley

Black bears can be found throughout the Valley.
