Mastodons are large primitive relatives of the elephant, but are larger, with heavy fur and even larger tusks.
They are herd herbivores, who will fight to protect their young. Found singly, they will fight when cornered, goring with the huge tusks for 3d6 damage and trampling with their hooves for 3d6 damage as well.
The thick furry hide of a mastodon is worth 200 silver pieces. The meat from one can feed an entire village for 30 days. The tusks of a mastodon are also worth 100 silver pieces each.
The Isle of Ealdun
Mastodons are unknown on the Isle.
The Middle Lands
Mammoths can only be found in the far northern reaches of the Middle Lands, in the lands beyond Tianshang. Occasionally the ivory from their tusks will find its way down into the Middle Lands, where it will demand very high prices.

Mastodons are unknown in the Vales, but bones of these creatures have been found in the past.
The Shaman’s Valley
Mastodons are uncommon in the plains areas of the Valley, but can be found . They are hunted by the natives, and are highly prized–and respected.
