Special: Constrict. On a successful grapple test, a constrictor snake establishes a hold on its victim and deals 3d6 points of damage by squeezing it.

Giant snakes are larger, more aggressive constrictor snakes. They have tougher scales and larger mouths to attack prey with. They are more aggressive than smaller constrictor snakes–and more evil. They require more food to survive than their smaller cousins, but also have the spirits of more evil beings in them.

They will attack by biting with their powerful jaws, then wrapping their powerful bodies around the prey. If they are successful in grappling with the prey, they will begin to squeeze their coils until the victims dead.

The Isle of Ealdun

Giant snakes are only found in some underground areas in the Varge. These albino snakes are legendary among adventurers and explorers, and can sometimes be found in the caves underneath the Varge.

The Middle Lands

Giant snakes are mostly found in the southern lands of Kavast, in the lands along the rivers through the Great Desert. They can also be found in underground areas of Yengzhi and southern Urre, brought in by evil sorcerers or cultists.

The Vales

Giant snakes are only found in some underground areas in the Vales. They are thought to be spawn of the Dragon.

The Shaman’s Valley

Giant snakes are not found in the Valley.

Design Notes

I have always liked the big snakes in swords & sorcery stories. I could fit them in the Middle Lands, sure, but what about Ealdun? Then I remembered a Kane story by Karl Edward Wagner–and thought about albino creatures from the underground!
