Dire wolves are huge–about 12 feet long and weighing up to 800 pounds. They tend to have a reddish brown fur, with short bulky snouts and huge teeth. Their legs are proportionally longer than a normal wolf, making them very fast.

Like normal wolves, dire wolves attack in packs, chasing down their prey, surrounding and flanking them–and savagely attacking. They prefer to bite with their terrible teeth, but will also claw if needed.

They tend to lair in depressions or other areas out of the wind, but roam widely in search of prey.

The Isle of Ealdun

Dire wolves are mostly seen in the Varge, and on the Long Moors north of the Morrigan Mountains. In recent years, they have also begun to appear in the southern plains areas of Southmoor.

The Middle Lands

Dire wolves are found in the colder climates of the Middle Lands. They can be found throughout the mountains and forests of Tianshang, and in the mountains of Urre and northern Kavast. As the temperatures drop, dire wolves will come down into plains areas to hunt fresh prey.

The Vales

Dire wolves can be found throughout the mountains surrounding the valley of the Vales. During the winters, they are known to venture into the Vales themselves and attack remote farms and homesteads.

The Shaman’s Valley

Dire wolves are the terrors of the Valley. They are found roaming in packs throughout the area, especially in the southern regions.
